Configure Tracks and Layouts

Configure tracks and their layouts in ONE RACEHUB to associate events with the circuit configuration and ensure lap distances, timing data, and reports use the appropriate settings.

Before you begin:

  • A track represents a circuit or venue. A layout represents a specific configuration of that track, including its lap lengths and sector count.

ⓘ Create one track per circuit or venue and add each configuration as a separate layout. An event is linked to one track and can use multiple layouts. Do not create a separate track for each layout.

Create a track

  1. Go to Configuration → Admin → Tracks
  2. Click Add Track
  3. Enter the track details:
  4. Name: Enter the full circuit or venue name
  5. Acronym: Enter a short acronym for the track
  6. Time zone: Select the track's location from the standard list
  7. Altitude: Optionally, enter the track's height above sea level in metres. See Track details.
  8. Click Save.

The track list is sorted alphabetically. Each row shows the track name, acronym, time zone, and number of layouts.

Choose the correct time zone:

⚠ Select a location-based time zone, not a fixed UTC offset. For example, select London rather than UTC+1.

ONE RACEHUB stores all data in UTC and converts timing, car, and GPS data to UTC so it can match them correctly. The track's time zone determines the local time displayed to users.

Add a layout

Add at least one layout before using a track in an event.

  1. Open the track
  2. Click Add Layout
  3. Enter the layout details:
  4. Layout name: Enter a name, such as Grand Prix
  5. Official lap length: Enter the official lap length in kilometres
  6. Car Data lap length (CRITICAL): Enter the lap length calculated from the car's recorded data.
  7. Roulette lap length: Enter the lap length measured along the racing line
  8. Number of sectors: Enter the number of sectors on the layout. New layouts start with a value of 1
  9. Click Create

⚠️ONE RACEHUB sets the Official and Car Data lap lengths to 0 by default. Replace these values before saving. A value of 0 is treated as an actual value, not as an empty field.

For details on how ONE RACEHUB selects a lap length and calculates distance, see Understand Lap Distance Calculations.

Edit a layout

Open a layout to configure its settings. The layout editor contains five tabs:

Overview

Use this tab to configure:

  • Layout name
  • Official, Car Data, and Roulette lap lengths for normal laps
  • The same three lap lengths for in-laps and out-laps
  • Number of sectors

⚠ Check the lap lengths before saving. ONE RACEHUB warns you if the Official or Car Data lap length is 0 or exceeds 30 km (about 18 miles).

Empty lap lengths and zero values behave differently. For details, see Understand Lap Distance Calculations.

Track information

  • Use this tab to enter pit-lane and track-record figures.

ⓘ Only Pit length affects calculations. The other values are stored for reference only.

FE information

  • Use this tab to enter Formula E layout figures.

  • These values are stored for reference only and do not affect calculations.

Add a track map

You can upload a track picture on the track page. The picture appears in the report overview.

  1. Open the track page
  2. Upload a picture of the circuit
  3. If a picture already exists, the new upload replaces it
  4. You can remove the picture later

💡If available, use the track map from ONE TIMING. One picture can show several layouts of the same circuit.

Use a layout map file

A layout can also store an XY or GPS map file. If the track has no uploaded picture, the report uses the layout's map file.

Delete a track or layout

⚠️ Deleting a track or layout is permanent. Remove the layout from all events before attempting to delete it.

  • Delete a track: Deleting a track also deletes its layouts. ONE RACEHUB prevents deletion while any of its layouts is assigned to an event and displays Unable to delete track.
  • Delete a layout: ONE RACEHUB prevents deletion while the layout is assigned to an event and displays Unable to delete track layout.

Remove the layout from its events before deleting it.

Track details

Altitude is the track's height above sea level, measured in metres.

💡Atmospheric pressure at high-altitude circuits is lower than at sea level, so weather readings may not be directly comparable with ONE RACEHUB’s sea-level reference. Teams may record circuit altitude for context.

ⓘ Altitude is stored for reference only. Entering it or leaving it blank does not change current weather or KPI figures.
