Parts & Specs - Overview

Defining, tracking, and managing components from design to implementation. The workflow and key concepts, including specifications, parts, assemblies, and setup sheets.

Introduction

The Parts & Specs section of ONE RACEHUB provides a comprehensive framework for defining, tracking, and managing all aspects of your racing vehicles in as much detail as you like. This documentation will guide you through the workflow of setting up and utilizing this powerful system.

Workflow Overview

The Parts & Specs workflow follows a logical progression from theoretical design to practical implementation:

  1. Specifications: Define the blueprint of your vehicle, including all possible configurations and components
  2. Setup Sheet Layout: Create customized templates for recording and visualizing vehicle setups
  3. Parts: Create physical parts based on your specifications
  4. Assemblies: Combine parts into functional assemblies (like a complete vehicle)
  5. Setups: Create actual setup configurations using your specifications
  6. Track Usage: Monitor part usage, mileage, and performance in race events

Key Concepts

Before diving into the detailed process, it's important to understand the core concepts of the Parts & Specs system:

Specifications

Specifications define the theoretical possibilities for your vehicle. They establish what components exist, their adjustment ranges, and their relationships. Think of specifications as a complete concept of all possible configurations.

Parts

Parts are the physical manifestations of your specifications. While specifications define what's theoretically possible, parts represent the actual physical components that you have in your inventory.

Assemblies

Assemblies represent how parts are combined into functional units. Your complete vehicle is an assembly, but you can also create sub-assemblies (like a front axle assembly), which then itself you can out into your assemblies.

Setup Sheet

The setup sheet is your interface for recording and visualizing vehicle configurations. It organizes your specifications in a completley customizable layout that typically mirrors the physical layout of your vehicle.

Benefits of the Parts & Specs System

  • Complete Traceability: Track every part from creation to retirement
  • Consistent Data Structure: Standardize how setup information is recorded across your team
  • Historical Analysis: Compare setups across different race events and conditions
  • Inventory Management: Know exactly what parts you have and their current status
  • Regulation Compliance: Ensure your vehicle meets the requirements for different race series

In the following sections, we'll explore each component of the Parts & Specs system in detail, providing step-by-step instructions for setting up your own configuration.
