Track Map

Provides a visual representation of the racing circuit with sector-based color coding, real-time car positioning, and comprehensive customization options for enhanced race monitoring.

The Track Map plugin displays the complete track layout with all sectors in different colors, allowing you to monitor car positions and track activity in real-time. This plugin serves as a central visual reference for understanding race dynamics, sector performance, and strategic positioning throughout a session.

Track Layout and Visual Elements

The track is divided into constituent sectors, with each sector displayed in a distinct color for easy identification. The track map includes detailed annotations such as corners, sectors, Attack Mode zones, and custom lines to provide comprehensive track information.

Reference Lines: Reference lines are available when defined by Event Settings. These lines provide additional track information and can be customized based on your monitoring needs.

Car Position Tracking

Car dots appear on the track map as soon as vehicles exit the pit lane. The position of each car dot updates automatically with every sector crossing, providing real-time tracking of all participants.

GPS Integration: When GPS coordinates are available, the Track Map plugin can display cars using precise GPS positioning for enhanced accuracy. GPS coordinates provide more detailed positioning information compared to standard XY coordinates.

Note: GPS coordinates are not available when using the Historical Replayer feature.

Configuration Options

Access the Track Map configuration by right-clicking within the plugin area. This opens a context menu with comprehensive customization options:

Display Settings

  • Rotation: Adjust the track orientation in 1-degree increments. Both positive and negative rotation values are supported, allowing you to orient the track to your preferred viewing angle.
  • Margin: Control the zoom level by adjusting the margin setting. The default margin is set to 10%. Setting the margin to 0% makes the track map fit perfectly within the plugin boundaries.

Reference Line Management

  • Reference Lines: When reference lines are available, hover over this option to access a dropdown menu where you can select or deselect individual reference lines.
  • Show Labels: This option appears only when defined reference lines are published. Disabling this option removes labels from reference lines on the track map. Labels remain visible when hovering over the lines even when this option is disabled.

Driver and Car Tracking

  • Driver: Access a dropdown menu containing all available drivers and cars. Selecting a driver creates a colored line from the track map center that follows the selected car. The line color matches the car's assigned color. You can select one, multiple, or all cars simultaneously.
  • Leaders: Enable leader tracking to display a white line connecting to the current race leader. For multi-class events, you can enable leader tracking for each class separately. The line automatically updates when leadership changes.

GPS and Coordinate Settings

  • Track Source: GPS Track: Indicates whether the track map supports GPS coordinate display. This setting shows the map's capability to use GPS data, not the current availability of GPS coordinates.
  • Use GPS Coordinates: When enabled and GPS coordinates are available, car dots switch from XY to GPS positioning. The GPS symbol in the top-left corner of the plugin changes from grey to green when GPS coordinates are active.

Class and Car Visibility

  • Show All Classes: Enables visibility for all available classes in the current session.
  • Hide All Classes: Disables visibility for all classes in the current session.
  • Visible Classes: Access a dropdown menu to individually select or deselect specific classes for display.
  • Show All Cars: Enables visibility for all cars in the current session.
  • Hide All Cars: Disables visibility for all cars in the current session.
  • Visible Cars: Access a dropdown menu to individually select or deselect specific cars for display.

Formula E Specific Features

The Track Map plugin includes specialized features for Formula E events:

  • Attack Mode Indication: When a Formula E car activates Attack Mode, the car's dot begins blinking on the track map.
  • Driver TLA Highlighting: The driver's three-letter abbreviation (TLA) displays with a blue background box during Attack Mode activation.
  • Attack Mode Completion: When Attack Mode ends, the car dot returns to normal display without blinking.

Best Practices

Tip: Use the margin setting to optimize the track map size for your monitoring setup. A smaller margin provides a larger track view, while a larger margin offers more context around the track boundaries.

Tip: Combine driver tracking with class visibility settings to focus on specific competitors or racing situations during complex multi-class events.

The Track Map plugin serves as an essential tool for race monitoring, providing real-time positional awareness and strategic insights throughout your racing sessions.

Built-In Track Maps

ONE TIMING offers a comprehensive selection of Track Maps by default. These maps are regularly updated and are typically prepared in advance of an Event. The Track Map is subsequently displayed according to the Input from the Event Settings.

Importing a Track Map

Should a Track Map not be available within ONE TIMING, for instance, due to the information not being accessible in a timely manner, you have the option to import a Track Map without necessitating a software update. PACETEQ will provide you with a new Track Map File. To import it, access the context menu in the Track Map plugin and select "Import Map." This action will open a File Browser, allowing you to choose a .csv.gz file. Any map imported in this manner will be permanently integrated into your ONE TIMING, ensuring its availability upon software restart.

Temporary importing a Track Map

As a temporary solution, you may drag and drop the CSV file into the Track Map Plugin. The Plugin will display the track map until it is closed or a new session is declared by the timekeeper.
