Track Map

Provides a visual representation of the racing circuit with sector-based color coding, real-time car positioning, and comprehensive customization options for enhanced race monitoring.

Overview

The Track Map plugin in ONE TIMING displays the complete track layout with all sectors highlighted in different colors, allowing users to monitor car positions and track activity in real time. This plugin serves as a central visual reference for understanding race dynamics, sector performance, and strategic positioning throughout a session.

Track Layout and Visual Elements

  • The track is divided into sectors, each displayed in a distinct color for easy identification.
  • Annotations include corners, sectors, Attack Mode zones, and custom lines for comprehensive track information.
  • Reference Lines: If defined in Event Settings, reference lines can be displayed and customized to provide additional track information.

Car Position Tracking

  • Car dots appear on the map as soon as vehicles exit the pit lane.
  • The position of each car dot updates automatically with every sector crossing, providing real-time tracking.
  • GPS Integration: When GPS coordinates are available, the plugin displays cars using precise GPS positioning for enhanced accuracy. (Note: GPS coordinates are not available when using the Historical Replayer feature.)

Configuration Options

Access the Track Map configuration by right-clicking within the plugin area. This opens a context menu with comprehensive customization options:

Display Settings

  • Rotation: Adjust the track orientation in 1-degree increments (positive or negative values).
  • Margin: Control the zoom level. The default margin is 10%. Setting the margin to 0% fits the track map perfectly within the plugin boundaries.

Reference Line Management

  • Reference Lines: When available, hover to access a dropdown menu for selecting/deselecting individual reference lines.
  • Show Labels: Appears only when reference lines are published. Disabling removes labels from the map, but labels remain visible when hovering over the lines.

Driver and Car Tracking

  • Driver: Dropdown menu to select drivers/cars. Selecting a driver creates a colored line from the map center to the car, matching the car's assigned color. Multiple cars can be selected.
  • Leaders: Enable leader tracking to display a white line to the current race leader. In multi-class events, leader tracking can be enabled per class and updates automatically when leadership changes.

GPS and Coordinate Settings

  • Track Source: GPS Track: Indicates if the map supports GPS coordinate display.
  • Use GPS Coordinates: When enabled and GPS data is available, car dots switch from XY to GPS positioning. The GPS symbol in the top-left corner turns green when active.

Class and Car Visibility

  • Show All Classes / Hide All Classes: Enable or disable visibility for all classes.
  • Visible Classes: Dropdown to select/deselect specific classes.
  • Show All Cars / Hide All Cars: Enable or disable visibility for all cars.
  • Visible Cars: Dropdown to select/deselect specific cars.

Formula E Specific Features

  • Attack Mode Indication: When a Formula E car activates Attack Mode, its dot blinks on the map.
  • Driver TLA Highlighting: The driver's three-letter abbreviation (TLA) displays with a blue background during Attack Mode.
  • Attack Mode Completion: The car dot returns to normal display when Attack Mode ends.

Best Practices

Tip: Use the margin setting to optimize the track map size for your monitoring setup. A smaller margin provides a larger track view, while a larger margin offers more context around the track boundaries.

Tip: Combine driver tracking with class visibility settings to focus on specific competitors or racing situations during complex multi-class events..

Built-In Track Maps

ONE TIMING offers a comprehensive selection of Track Maps by default. These are regularly updated and typically prepared in advance of an event. The Track Map is displayed according to the input from the Event Settings.

Importing a Track Map

If a Track Map is not available within ONE TIMING (e.g., due to late information), you can import a Track Map without a software update:

  1. PACETEQ will provide a new Track Map file.
  2. Access the context menu in the Track Map plugin and select Import Map.
  3. Choose a .csv.gz file in the File Browser.
  4. The imported map is permanently integrated and available after a software restart.

Temporary Importing

  • As a temporary solution, drag and drop a CSV file into the Track Map Plugin. The map will display until the plugin is closed or a new session is declared by the timekeeper.
