Tyre Settings

Configure multiple tyre compounds and up to three performance stages per compound. Adjust and publish tyre settings in real-time during a session for optimal strategy and accuracy.

Overview

The Tyre Settings feature in ONE TIMING allows you to define and manage multiple tyre compounds for your event. Each compound can have up to three performance stages, reflecting real-world tyre behavior such as initial performance, plateau, and performance drop-off (“cliff”). You can make adjustments to these settings live during a session, ensuring your race strategy remains accurate and responsive.

Main Features

Tyre Compounds and Stages

  • Multiple Compounds:
    Define as many tyre compounds as needed for your event. Each compound is identified by both an abbreviation (short name) and a full name. The order of these is interchangeable.

  • Up to 3 Stages Per Compound:
    Each compound can have up to three stages to simulate tyre life and performance:

    • Stage 1: Initial performance, defined by the starting time difference and gradual per-lap performance drop.
    • Stage 2: Plateau phase, with a lap threshold and a new drop-off rate.
    • Stage 3: The “cliff,” where performance drops off significantly after a specified lap.

    Example:
    In Formula 1, a hard tyre may start 0.5 seconds slower than a soft tyre, with a gradual decline per lap. The second stage begins at a specific lap with a higher drop-off, and the third stage marks a steep performance decrease.

  • Compound Color Assignment:
    Assign a specific color to each compound for easy identification in the UI.

Publish Settings

You can adjust Tyre Settings either directly within the Plugin or by preparing a .txt file for import.

Editing in the Plugin

  • Ensure you are connected to the correct ONE TIMING live-feed (dropdown at the top right).
  • The session you wish to modify must be live.
  • Make changes in the Tyre Settings plugin and publish them for all connected users.

Preparing a .txt File

  • File Format:
  • Start with Tyre=, followed by the short name and full name.
  • Specify the initial offset (e.g., 0.4 for the Prime Tyre).
  • Indicate the initial drop-off at lap 0 (e.g., 0:0.04).
  • Use a vertical bar | to separate stages, with each stage defined by lap:drop-off.
  • The third stage is optional and follows the same format.

  • Example Entries:
  Tyre=O|Option;0.0;0:0.15|10:0.3
Tyre=P|Prime;0.4;0:0.04|20:0.08|30:0.2
  • Importing the File:
    • Drag and drop the prepared .txt file into the Tyre Settings Plugin.
    • The defined compounds will appear in the UI.
    • Optionally, assign a color to each compound before publishing

Notes & Tips

Tip: Ensure that the tyre designated as the "Default Start Tire" in the Event Settings matches a compound you have specified in the Tyre Settings.
